"You will not need any chariot to bring you back. Only say goodbye to all your brothers and sisters the night before you come away and, when you have gone to bed, turn this ring round upon your finger, and say firmly, ‘I wish to go back to my palace and see my Beast again.’"
[In theory, that was how the rings were supposed to work - well, minus having to speak. But turning the ring on her finger is supposed to bring her to wherever Hiro is, and when Yona finds herself pursued from her father's rooms and losing her balance in the courtyard, it's not Hak she calls out for on instinct.
It's Hiro, and as she falls, she twists the ring on her finger.
...
The next thing she knows, she's falling again. Through the air, this time; the bright lights of a crowded city blink below her, but they're coming up fast as she plummets to the ground, and it's the fact that she is almost certainly going to go splat that has her attention, and not the boy and the robot flying at a rapid pace ahead of her.
(In retrospect, she should have checked the mirror to make sure he wasn't somewhere that her spontaneously appearing would be an inconvenience.)
In a way - this is out of the frying pan and into the fire. Yona can't help but scream, even as she closes her eyes and braces herself for impact.]
