[It's bad timing all around, and she knows that. But when the guards had caught up to her in the courtyard, all she could think was that she wanted to be somewhere safe with someone she trusted.
Yona hadn't even had to think about twisting the ring to send herself to Hiro's side.
...coming here was easy; answering that question is not. She shudders and wraps her arms around herself, looking very small in Baymax's arms as they zoom across the city.]
I, um... ["Father is dead. He was dead the whole time we were in the castle, and I was going to be next."] ...I just...
[She can't spit the words out.]
...sorry... for coming so suddenly. I know you- You said you had things to take care of.
...whatever. [It's a brush-off of an answer and he shakes his head as he navigates.] It's okay. I'm working on my own schedule now so I have time for other priorities.
[Fuck his team, basically. But he can always make time for Yona.] We're heading back to Lucky Cat. We can talk and figure out stuff from there while I fix Baymax's sensors and gear.
[...if he says it's okay, it's okay. Yona relaxes a little, but ... she doesn't exactly look happy, either. She probably won't for a while. But that's pretty normal, all things considered.
She stares down at the lights beneath them and takes a breath.]
...I don't really know a lot about robots and science and the things you do, but... is there anything I can do to help you?
No. I don't need anyone else's help. [It's clipped and maybe harsh, a tone she'd recognize as his angry and stressed tone.] Just...stay safe? That'll be the most helpful thing right now. Baymax and I have to head back out as soon as I fix everything but it shouldn't be long before I find Callaghan.
[It's a tone she recognizes as the kind he uses when he needs help but won't admit it. She bites her lip, knowing it's probably a little useless to argue when he's on the robot's back and she's in the robot's arms, and resolves to try and distract him a little once they're both on the ground.]
...I'll stay safe. ["With Hiro" was the safest place she could think of when she was running for her life - it's why she's here now. That part, at least, shouldn't be too hard. What's the worst that could happen to her in San Fransokyo?] ...but, if you're saying that... does that mean what you and Baymax are heading into is a little dangerous?
Good. [Haha, what if he just doesn't answer that question though? He doesn't reply as Baymax zips along, heading to a hillier part of the city and away from downtown.]
We'll be fine. I know what I'm doing and he won't get away this time. [It's a smooth landing though as they arrive at Lucky Cat and in front of the garage. Baymax is at least polite as he puts Yona down and Hiro dismounts from the robot's back, turning away to wrench the garage door open. It slams upward with more force than necessary. He's also grabbing Baymax's helmet with more force than necessary, revealing his marshmallow pal as he starts to stomp to his workbench to fix it.]
[Hiro, turning away to deal with the door, may miss it when Yona stumbles after Baymax puts her down. She's quick to catch herself, but her ankle is still a little tender. It's fine. She just needs to be careful how much weight she puts on it.
It also means she's not quite fast enough to catch him before he stomps to his workbench, but she follows him there and starts to reach out, intening to put a hand on his shoulder.
[Baymax's sudden announcement of her injury startles Yona into jumping back a bit... which in turn has her put weight on her bad ankle and sends her straight to the ground. Ouch. Okay.
Yona! [It jars him out of his tantrum and he leaves Baymax's helmet on the bench. He's also quickly de-armoring Baymax and revealing the full extent of his marshmallow body.] Baymax, move her to the chair.
[...] Oh yeah. Yona, Baymax. Baymax, Yona.
[The robot peers at her curiously before he shuffles forward and waves.]
Hello, Yona. I am Baymax. [He looks down.] You have fallen. I will assist you now.
[Hope Yona's prepared because Baymax moves and scoops her up, waddling to a corner of the garage where there's a large, plush chair. Down you go.]
[Yona raises her hand in a wave - and then the next thing she knows the marshmallow robot is picking her up and hauling hr over to an actual chair. It's perhaps not that surprising, considering he also plucked her out of the sky and flew her back here.
Her expression starts to flatten out a little as she remembers why she was falling and what she'd been running from in the first place, but--]
You know I always would. [It's the first thing he says even before "it's good to see you, too" which is on his mind even if he's already moving back to the bench. Baymax is making sure Yona is comfortable and he's also touching her ankle. His hand's cold and acts as a compress for the moment while he makes sure her leg is elevated.]
...it's good to see you, too. [There's an awkward pause.] Things will be fine.
[Both their worlds are crazy and they've only barely escaped murder castle, but trusting Hiro comes as easily to her as breathing. If it didn't, she might not be here right now.
(She might not even be alive right now. All of those guards were armed.)
She shudders, and hopes that Baymax will take it for shivering from the cold of the compress.
If Hiro's turning back to his workbench, that means he can't see her face, so she doesn't have to force a smile. Her gaze trails down to the ground as Baymax fusses over her ankle.]
...you promise? If it's dangerous out there, I-- I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you too.
[She tries to answer. Really, she does. She opens her mouth to speak, but the words stick in her throat, and she sort of hunches her shoulders and curls in on herself in the chair as he works with his tinkering.
The silence will stretch on between them until either he or Baymax breaks it, but she's trembling.]
[She takes a breath. Admitting it doesn't feel right. If she admits it, it means accepting that her father isn't here anymore, and accepting that Soo-won was never the man she thought he was.]
...the whole time we were in that place, he...
[Yona can't say it. She shakes her head uselessly.]
...you can't go back, can you? [He's not going to ask for details. The fact that she's not giving them means it's worse than he imagined and he doesn't know how he feels about that. All that truly matters here is keeping her safe like he always has.]
Of course it's okay. [The anger from earlier seems to be on pause even though his posture is tense still.] I told you before we left that place that you could always come find me. I just didn't think it'd be so soon.
[At that, she raises her head, managing a small, watery smile. Then she reaches out for him. He's close enough to be crouched down in front of her, which means he's close enough to hug.
...though she'll let go if he stays tense for too long.]
[He's close enough that she can hug him and he doesn't exactly move away. Instead, he looks at her almost unhappily and leans his head into her even if he doesn't move his arms to hug back.]
Yeah. [He sounds a little lost, but certain.] We'll take care of everything and keep you safe here. I promise. My aunt won't even know you're here and we can make it work.
[If Hiro says it will work, she'll believe him. He may only be fourteen, but he's a genius and one of the most resourceful people Yona knows, and she doesn't think he would tell her it will all be fine if he didn't believe it.
...that unhappy expression of his gets her to let go after a few seconds, though.]
I'll do my best to stay out of the way. She definitely won't even know I'm here. [...] ...you said you and Baymax are going out again, right?

She hesitates, and doesn't actually touch him.]

Your ankle requires medical attention. Recommended treatment is elevation and. A cold compress.
[Hiro ignores that for a moment even as he absorbs that information. He knows Yona's behind him, and he takes that into account, too.]
...you should sit down and get off your feet.
