["Look before you leap" is something Yona would do well to learn.
Unfortunately for Sandalphon, it's not among the many things she's learned since returning to Kouka and catapulting straight into the chaos that was her life after her father's passing. She and Hiro had written magic mirrors and teleportation rings into their respective stories - the mirrors to see the people they miss, and the rings to take them to them. Sadly, she has an unfortunate habit of twisting the ring to take herself to the side of whoever she's thinking about without using the mirror first to see if it's a good time.
That's why, out of nowhere, Sandalphon will be greeted with a red-haired menace falling straight out of the sky, roughly 2 seconds away from flattening him.]
--look out!
[She has enough time to call out a warning, at least, but will it do much? Sandalphon is standing right at the airship's edge, and they could easily go overboard if this goes wrong.]
[Even with the heightened reflexes of a Primal, there's only so much that Sandalphon can do when the speaker is hurtling toward him at great speed. Drawn by the familiar voice, he looks up in time to glimpse a flash of red before the collision knocks the wind out of him. With a strangled grunt, he and the newcomer fall overboard while members of the crew out on deck shout after them in alarm.
Against the rush of wind, Sandalphon reaches out to wrap his arms around Yona, then spreads his wings to slow their fall to a gradual stop. Once they're suspended safely in the air, he grimaces.]
[For one heart-stopping moment, Yona thinks that they're both going to die. Her life flashes before her eyes, and she's left ... feeling pretty stupid, actually! Popping in to visit him was supposed to be the good kind of surprise, not the hi-by-the-way-you're-dead-now kind of surprise.
Luckily, he has wings and he knows how to use them. She looks up at him and meets his grimace with a smile.]
[And by now, he'd expected anyone with the capacity to cross world to have forgotten about him. For once, that thought hadn't been fueled by self-hatred; it had simply been a logical assumption, given the passage of time. Yet here's Yona. Sandalphon's expression eases into a frown as he looks up at the ship.
A young girl shouts his name from above. At this distance, the sky seems to drown out her voice.]
We'll continue this conversation on the deck.
[Mindful of Yona's senses, he flaps his wings slowly for a smooth ascent.]
I don't recall having to be asked to want to visit a friend!
[...she argues, but then they're heading back up to the ship, and her words are swallowed up by the winds. She yelps and buries her face in Sandalphon's shoulder so she won't look down and get dizzy or something as they go.
Once they're up there, she tries speaking up again.]
[The deck, as it turns out, is a poor place for peaceful conversation. A crowd of crew members have amassed to watch from the distance as a blue-haired girl and the young captain, accompanied by a flying lizard, step forward to ask about Sandalphon and Yona's well-being. The former brushes them off, his wings disappearing behind him.]
We're fine. I'll explain later.
[The captain respects his wishes with a nod, and Sandalphon leads Yona below deck to the room he's been given for his stay. Finally, peace and quiet.]
It isn't bad. Just . . . I'd all but forgotten about that time.
[Yona's going to want to talk to the rest of his crew when we find people to play them, but for now, she's content to follow him belowdecks. Airships are something she's decidedly unfamiliar with, so she looks around with wide eyes and drinks it all in until they get to his room.
...awkward.]
Hmm... that's good, isn't it? It means you've had a lot of interesting experiences, so you're not dwelling on everything that happened there. [...] Those people before... are they your friends?
[Enemies turned friends, then. Yona's of the opinion that Sandalphon's the type to use "acquaintance" to mean "friend" because he doesn't let himself acknowledge getting close to others very fast.
(She's stupid.)]
Umm, well... I'm between things right now, and my group was resting for a week. So I had a week to visit with people. [...] ...is that too long?
You'll have to take that up with the Singularity. He's the captain of this ship. [A beat.] Knowing him, he'll allow it . . . but I can't promise that it'll be much of a break for you.
How is this ship flying? I know you were flying because you have wings, but... how does something this big stay up? Are there ships like it all over the place here?
The helmsman can explain its buoyancy better than I can.
[And with more passion. Rackam is way more knowledgeable in the subject than he is.]
Ships like this one are abundant in the skies: They're the only means of travel between islands for non-Primals, after all. The Grandcypher—this ship—is always on the move.
A few months. As for our next destination, who can say? The captain is in charge.
[He knows where the Singularity's end goal lies, but he has his doubts about sticking around that long. It's also a story for the captain himself to tell, not Sandalphon.]

Hi, Sandalphon! ...I came to visit you!

I don't recall ever asking you to do that.

We fought each other in the past. Our interests happened to align, and now we're acquaintances.
They're not exactly a static bunch. You're not intending on staying long, are you?

[because she's a moron.]
I've gotten a lot stronger, too, so I might even be able to help you out! I talked a pirate captain into letting me into her crew, you know!
[
it was gi-gan]

This isn't a pirate crew. If you're that eager to lend your service, talk to the Singularity.
Before that, you must have some questions. I don't know anything about Kouka, but it's not the Sky Realm.

[It sounds like an interesting way to live. Yona has about twenty more questions immediately, but she'll restrain herself to two of them for now.]
How long have you been on this ship? And, where is it headed now?

[He pauses, considering what he's just said.]
It's been some time since we made this sort of trip. The timing is ideal. We might stay there for a while.
