[After the castle has turned out differently for all of them. Yona's running for her life. Hiro has become a superhero. Varian ... is apparently in jail? Why the fuck didn't you write yourself out of prison, Varian? Visiting Hiro from time to time is easy enough; visiting Varian ... not so much. Hiro and Yona can't just stroll into Corona's jails and be like "Hey, let us talk to our friend!"
(She's not sure why Rapunzel hasn't busted him out yet. Maybe the king is just being stubborn. Fathers are ... like that, sometimes.)
Anyway, that's why the disaster duo is here now, sneaking into prison so they can sneak Varian out and become a disaster trio. This is probably going to go poorly, but at least their days probably won't get worse than the day one of the guards is having. (Getting pinned to a wall with an arrow and having an ex-princess steal your keys is probably pretty embarrassing.)
Yona keeps her voice low.]
I think it's just a little further now. Hey, Varian, can you hear us?
[Stealth missions aren't anything new for him. He maybe looks a little out of place with his gear but it's important to be able to stay in contact with Baymax (who's off in a field somewhere, thanks Hiro?) and be able to work on the fly as they sneak through this prison. He lets Yona take point for now as he watches their backs, making sure the guards won't call for backup anytime soon.]
Do you think he would actually know who "us" is anymore?
Like most things about the kingdom, Corona's prison is terrible. The one good thing it has going for it is that it's mostly empty. Varian doesn't have any cellmates nearby, and so it's just him, his raccoon, and his constant regret that he let Rapunzel convince him to not just write himself out of jail so she could get him a proper royal pardon and he wouldn't have to live his life as a wanted criminal.
It is taking ... forever.
The lack of other prisoners around him is why he even hears the low tones through the prison, though he doesn't catch the words spoken. He vaguely recognizes the voices and knows they aren't guards, but he can't be bothered to move from his shitty prison cot to check who is sneaking into jail at this time. He gives a deadpan, drawled guess instead: ]
Lady Caine is on the other level.
[ it's a bad guess but listen historically speaking she has tried to break out, a lot ]
[She hadn't thought about the possibility of him forgetting them.
Also, why is King Fred the worst?
Yona would probably feel a little bad about ruining Rapunzel's plan if she knew about it, but she doesn't, and since Corona and Kouka don't have diplomatic relations she can't use the fact that she is - or was - a princess to try and get a royal audience. Sooo... here they are instead.
She creeps closer to Varian's cell and pulls her hood back as she comes up to the bars.]
I don't know who that is. [she gives him a little wave and heads for the lock] Hi, Varian! ...do you remember us?
[He's not taking off his helmet or anything because he's an idiot, but he's right behind her and approaching the bars as well. Instead of looking at Varian, he's sizing up the cell for a moment.]
Even if you don't, we're kind of here to rescue you. It's just faster if you do. [There's a smirk though that says he seems to get the initial response was, well, enough of a response.] But yeah, who's Lady Caine?
[ Upon recognizing them, Varian attempts to shoot up off his cot in a hurry and manages to just trip over himself to land nearly face first on the ground. he's quick to get back up, though, a semi-wild look on his face, as if torn between disbelief and excitement. ]
Yona? Hiro? [ if he sounds slightly more excited for hiro i'm sorry yona it's because he is ] Of course I remember-- what are you wearing.
[ what the fuck is hiro wearing. varian turns to look at yona because she's not wearing the robot outfit, so, what the fuck. also wait. ]
[honestly she's not surprised, most people like hiro better than her these days]

[surprise, varian! steph isn't the only hero you met in the castle! ...anyway, yona gets the cell door unlocked and pulls it open, looking proud of herself (although it would have been more impressive if she'd picked the lock instead of just stealing the guard's keys).]
Mmhm, rescue you. You're locked up and that's not really fair, so we came to get you out of here.
[There's a grin because it's two of his favorites from the castle and also he likes the acknowledgment of being a superhero...even if Yona's the one who's unlocking the door and being the true hero here.]
